maría zulueta

Following her BA Honours in Fine Arts at the Basque Country University, Spain, Maria Zulueta completed a postgraduate degree in kiln-formed glass at WAES, where she specialised in glass. Maria combines her work as an artist with teaching and researching. She regularly lectures in kiln-formed glass courses in London and runs workshops and master classes. Her award-winning work has been exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum and at The Alexander Palace Garden Show. Since 2001, Maria’s work has been selected for exhibit at the British Glass Biennale, Sotheby’s Decorative Arts and at the Chelsea Crafts Fair. Her work has also been featured in numerous international magazines and publications, (including Elle Decoration, Homes & Gardens, Architectural Digest and IdFx).

“I work across a spectrum of visual platforms which combine design flexibility with glass applications. The variation, range and individuality of each medium provide a rich and evocative language that offers context and environment in a multi-layered approach. My aim is to provoke a sense of personal involvement with the viewer. This interaction is crucial to my own experience with the pieces and my desire to connect with both individual and collective human experience”
