ana aceves

I was born in Zamora (Spain) in 1969, grew up in Toro and later lived in Oviedo.  In 1987, after spending a few months in Paris, I moved to England where I now live. I studied at Goldsmith's College in London and then at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, achieving a Bachelor of Arts in Music.

I was always attracted to illustration and design and after my graduation I started to work as a graphic designer and art director for a few advertising companies.  Since January 2002 I’ve been working as a full time artist, putting all my energy into painting, illustrating and promoting my own creative company. I have exhibited in the Legacy Gallery in Odiham and at online galleries.  My work has also been published in several magazines.

I am a self-taught painter. I like to evoke forms with the minimum possible detail of lines, lights and shades although sometimes I have a more spontaneous and intuitive approach and I let more abstract textures and forms dominate my work. My favorite subjects tend to be the shape of the human figure and landscape, my greatest inspirations being Miró, Matisse, Calder, Gauguin, Motherwell... and the list goes on and grows daily.
