Guillem Ramos-Poquí
was born and studied Painting in Barcelona, spent time in Paris and New York and
came to live in London in 1968. He was the leading figure in the Catalan
Conceptual and Povera avant-garde, as recognized in the writings by art critics
Cirici Pellicer and Corredor-Matheos. In London he did post-graduate Fine Art studies at the Slade (University College, London) and at the Royal College of Art for his MA. And in 1995 obtained his PhD Doctorate in Fine Art Painting, from the University of Barcelona. In London he has been Head of Fine Art and Theoretical Studies at Kensington and Chelsea College. He has exhibited extensively in London and abroad. At the heart of Guillem Ramos-Poquí's recent paintings lies the concern for the juxtaposition of multi-dimensional spaces, which are often landscapes, gardens, or scenes. Images therefore float free from gravity and interconnect through colour sequences, as in a musical composition.
