natalia rivero

Natalia Rivero was born in Barcelona in 1975 and has a BA Honours degree in Fine Art from Valencia University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Painting from the Royal Academy of Arts, London. During her studies she obtained an Erasmus scholarship for Lisbon University, and a Promoe grant for Byam Shaw School of Art, London, where she lives since 1997. At the RA Summer Show 2001 she won the Diana King Prize. Currently, she exhibits her art widely and works as an art teacher at a Waldorf School in London.

Natalia’s Art work is a response to the beauty and harmony of the things she has seen on her travels, and painting has the power to make her see things in a new light, bringing back memories of aesthetic experiences in places she has lived and visited.

By using Nature scenes, her intention is to communicate human feelings of solitude and isolation: An empty boat drifting, camels lost in a sand storm, sheep staring at the viewer interrogatively... and all surrounded by an unbearable stillness, as if waiting for a storm to arrive.
