liliana montoya

Liliana Montoya of Colombian origin was born in 1970. She has a Degree in Art from Surrey University, has lived in France and Spain where she specialised further in ceramics and began her career as a ceramic artist. Since 1998 she lives and works from her studio in Guildford, Surrey.

From this fusion of cultures a vibrant and colourful ceramics has emerged and her work ranges from tile murals, thrown wares and slab built work. She uses traditional Hispano-Moorish decorating techniques such as ‘dry-line decoration’ and draws her inspiration from her travels and the cosmos.

Liliana also works to commission and her most important collaboration to date is the 11m ceramic waterfall feature commissioned by the Hammersmith NHS Trust, for the entrance foyer of Charing Cross Hospital in London.
